Borrowing Materials
Library borrowers in good standing may borrow any combination of books, audiocassettes, compact discs, DVDs, videocassettes, toys and magazines. AV materials, DVD/VHS, music CDs, toys, and magazines are limited to 5 items each. Nonfiction is limited to 5 items on each subject.
Loan Period & Renewals
Books, Toys, CDs, Audio Books, CD-ROM and music CDs may be borrowed for 28 days.
Magazines may be borrowed for 14 days.
DVDs and VHS may be borrowed for 7 days.
Renewals can be performed at the Circulation Desk, by telephone (989-356-6188) or accessing My Account. Library material with requests pending for other Borrowers cannot be renewed and must be returned by the due date to the Library.
Requesting Material
All circulating materials may be requested, in person or using the Online Catalog. The library will provide a courtesy call using our automated calling system when the requested material is available for pickup.
Returning Material
All material may be returned at the Circulation desk or in the drop box. Music CDs, DVD/VHS and Books on CD/Tape MUST be returned to the Circulation Desk.
All material returned in the drop box before opening will be checked in as though returned the previous day.
Charges for Overdue Material
Items overdue (excluding DVD/VHS) will incur a $.10 a day fine, with a $3.00 cap per item. There is a five day grace period for each item.
Overdue movies (DVD/VHS) $1.00 a day with a $5.00 cap per item. There is no grace period for DVD/VHS items.
Charges for Lost or Damaged Material
We charge the cost of the specific item at the price listed in our catalog record, or you may provide an approved, new replacement copy of the same title.
Notification of Overdue Materials
The receipt provided at the time of check out serves as the official notice to the Borrower of when materials are due. As a courtesy, the library will also attempt to notify the Borrower when materials become overdue using our automated calling system.
Reminder Notices
An automated call will be provided 1 day before an item is due.
Overdue Notices
The first overdue notice will be issued 4 days after the due date using our automated calling system. A second call will be placed 7 days after item is overdue.
Billing Notices
A written Overdue Notice will be sent when an item is 14 days overdue. A second written Billing Notice will be sent when the item is 28 days overdue.
After 45 days, if material(s) and fine(s) exceed $25, the Borrower's account will be assigned to a debt collection agency.
Expired Library Cards
Library cards expire after one (1) year, from the date of issue.
Library cards must be renewed in person. Please visit the Library to renew your library card. You will need to present a valid form of identification that includes your current address. At the time of renewal a patron card must be in good standing, otherwise fines and fees must be paid. When renewing a card for a child under the age of 18, the parent/guardian listed on the child's library account must show his/her current identification.
