Local Goverment

The City of Alpena governed by a mayor and a council of four members.  The council meets the first and third Mondays of the month at city hall.  For city information link to website or call city hall 8:00 a.m to 5 p.m. at (989) 354-1700.

The County of Alpena is governed by a board of commissioners, which includes a chairman and eight commissioners each elected by a district
