    Alpena County Library's Teen Advisory Board (TAB) will meet Wednesday, September 20 from 5:30 -6:30pm in the Small Conference Room for our monthly meeting. Registration is not necessary for current members. Teens interested in joining TAB should fill out an application.

    Sewing Club

    Join Barb Brege for Sewing Club at the Library beginning September 13 from 4:00 - 6:00pm in the MakerLab. No sewing experience? No problem! This club is open to all skill levels, from newbie to expert, ages 10 and up. Bring your sewing machine, supplies, (scissors, straight pins), and a project to work on. We will supply the space and guidance. For those without a sewing machine, there are 3 machines on site to use, first come, first served.

    Teen anime fans are invited to join us from 3:30-4:30pm every other Thursday this fall starting September 21 for an hour of anime, doodling, and discussion. Drawing supplies will be provided, but attendees are welcome to bring their own as well.

An instant bestseller, “Firekeeper’s Daughter” focuses on the fictional main character, Daunis, but brings to light so many themes and topics that Native American groups face in Michigan and throughout the country today.
As a biracial, unenrolled tribal member and the product of a scandal, Daunis Fontaine has never quite fit in—both in her hometown and on the nearby Ojibwe reservation. When her family is struck by tragedy, Daunis puts her dreams on hold to care for her fragile mother. The only bright spot is meeting Jamie, the charming new recruit on her brother’s hockey team.
