The spooky season is upon us. The library will be hosting a costume contest and movie event Saturday, October 28th from 1pm- 3:30 p.m. in the Stillion room. The costume contest will be from 1:00 -1:30 p.m. Please arrive in costume if you are entering the costume contest. There will be a form to complete at the event.
Voting will take place Monday, Oct. 30th through Friday, Nov. 3rd on Alpena County George N. Fletcher Public Library’s Facebook page. To vote, click on the photo of your favorite costume and hit the like button. The winner will receive the grand prize of a $50 JJ’s gift card!
Following the costume contest, there will be a classic movie. It’s about a boy befriending a homesick alien stranded on Earth and his attempts to help the alien “phone home.” Meanwhile, a group of government scientists attempt to capture the benevolent visitor for research. The movie was released in 1982, and is rated PG.
You can attend just the costume contest, just the movie (costume optional) or both parts together with no registration required.
